Lodging and Housing part 2

Hey All!
Well we can't believe it- August 1st is almost here. It has been really fun to get a lot of your responses back. To hear your advice and ideas for music. Thanks so much for that. Those who haven't contacted us yet....please do. We have been hearing that some of you are having a hard time finding lodging or a place to stay in Hood River. We know that there are some other ideas out there, other than the places we have listed below. For that reason we have added a question and answer gadget up on the right corner of the blog. We are hoping that you can use it to...offer up extra space where you are staying/get a better price for more people, get a group together to rent a house, let others know of a cool camping site, offer some other ideas...ect. Really whatever you need.

Just so everyone has a heads up-- Friday night all will be invited to a pre-wedding dinner gathering, Saturday is the wedding and Sunday there will be a brunch in the morning/afternoon. So whatever you can or desire to make on those days, we invite you to take part with us. We hope this note finds you all well and can't wait to see you.

Lodging in Hood River

Hood River is a bustling, sundrenched little destination town during the summer with LOTS of people there for wind surfing/kiteboarding, hiking, biking, camping, whitewater rafting, fishing, etc. There are often weekend festivals and of course weddings, so it is definitely a good idea to get your lodging situation settled well ahead of time.

These are some of our favorite options: (From the time we had originally posted this information, we have been hearing that there are not many rooms left at the 3 original hotels-Hood River Hotel, Best Western, and Vagabond Lodge- for that reason we have added some other options....more hotels, rental houses//Please make reservations ASAP)

Hotels/Bed and Breakfasts
Oak Street hotel
Downtown Hood River. Close to everything! Highly recommended.

Best Western Hood River Inn
Right off the water. We have 20 rooms blocked off under Rosman/ McClellan.

Hood River Hotel
Beautiful, historic hotel in downtown Hood River with great breakfast! We have ten rooms blocked off here under the name Rosman/McClellan so first come, first serve.

Vagabond Lodge
The Vagabond is a nice, clean, affordable motel located on the cliffs of the Colombia Gorge, right off of Interstate 84. Beautiful views of the Colombia river and easy (but driving) access to Hood River downtown. Recommended, but were unable to block off rooms.

Gorge View Bed and Breakfast
Bed and Breakfast walking distance from downtown. Offer great rates.

Riverview Lodge
Hotel that is close to downtown. Affordable rates.

Another good option is to rent a house...
Some of the websites our friends and family have been using and have had success with are:

Camping
There are national forest and state park campgrounds all over the Hood River area, but these are a few that are easy access to downtown and the wedding site: Viento State Park, Sherwood, Toll bridge state park, and FROG LAKE in parkdale among others.
Here is the link to forest service site listing all of the campgrounds, scroll down to Hood River area for the closest options:

Check out the Ranger station for maps, permits, updates etc.
